The Delhi UMC Permanent Endowment and Memorials Committee has established categories that might be appropriate for you to designate when giving a memorial gift to the church or when desiring to honor someone with a financial gift.

 Those categories are:

Elizabeth Shearer Endowment…for Youth Camping expenses

Bell Choir Capital Fund

Organ Capital Fund

Care Ministry Coordinator Endowment Fund

Youth Mission Fund or the Mission Memorial Fund

Building Capital Fund

General Endowment or the General Memorial Fund

Let’s take a look at a couple of the categories, beginning with the Organ Capital Fund.

The current organ at Delhi UMC was donated in 1953.    While it has done well over the years, there’s always a concern about it wearing out, not being able to be repaired or that the cost to repair might be greater than the replacement cost.   Organ Capital Fund receives funds to help cover the replacement costs of the organ, if/when necessary.   Even though there are the more modern keyboards, there’s nothing like having organ music in a church.

A Bell Choir provides an opportunity for ANYONE to be part of a musical group.  No musical talent is necessary to play in a Bell Choir.   Some churches have several Bell Choirs…a Children’s Bell Choir, a Youth Bell Choir and an Adult Bell Choir…all using the same set of bells.   Having a set that contains 3 octaves of bells provides a chance for many to be involved and allows for more songs to be played.    Bells are easy to play…and participants don’t even have to know how to read music.  What an opportunity for more to be involved in the music of the church.  Since this fund was established approximately $3,400 has been received which would be about ˝ of the total cost needed.
